Regional Trust and Confidence Building Measures

Peace processes need to take account of the regional dimension, and tend to work best when supported by regional actors. While most countries have a strong interest in regional stability, new political, security and economic arrangements in one country are likely to affect its neighbors.

The institute's work in this area covers a wide range of regional issues including strategic trust building initiatives aimed at building strong trade ties, tackling drug and organized crime and violent extremism. We will do this by convening businesses and CSOs and independent commissions such as National Human Rights Institutions to develop policy options for the governments with the potential to shift strategic disputes into win-win sustainable solutions.
